January 26-28, 2018
With roots in the classical Greek and Roman traditions, sculptural art has always played a significant role in the western tradition of sacred art. SAGA is pleased to host a two-day workshop in clay sculpture in order to explore this world of three-dimensional art with the gifted sculptor Cameron Roberts. This is an opportunity for novices and experienced explore the tools and materials used in sculpture. Students will have the opportunity to create a work influenced by a spiritually inspired reference, such as a St. Sebastian torso, in order to create a small-scale figure ‘torso’ or maquette this would be recommended for those having some experience with the Anatomy. Or, for those just beginning their journey into sculpture, may wish to try a classically inspired angel or angel wings. Having taught sculpture and figurative drawing for over 15 years, Cam Robert is known is a patient and helpful instructor who can assist students at any level to produce an interesting work andhave a meaningful learning experience.
Students are encouraged to bring their own ideas or reference photos. We will also provide suggested reference material that are keeping with the theme of the workshop.
